SB 1247: appropriations; named claimants
Sponsor: Senator Gowan, LD  14
Transmitted to the Governor
Overview
Appropriates monies in FY 2022 for the payment of claims against state agencies.
History
The Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA) has limited authority to approve payments of
claims that are made outside of the fiscal year they were incurred. Specifically, ADOA may
authorize a claim to be paid within one fiscal year or if the claim is for $300 or less and the budget
unit has funds available to pay the claim.
If a claim meets the following criteria, ADOA must submit a request to the Legislature to
appropriate monies to pay the claim:
1) The claim is greater than $300;
2) The claim is more than one fiscal year old but less than four fiscal years old; and
3) The budget unit reverted enough money to pay for the claim (A.R.S. § 35-191).
