ARIZONA STATE SENATE
Fifty-Fifth Legislature, Second Regular Session

FACT SHEET FOR S.B. 1355

campaign finance report; due date
Purpose
Requires a political action committee (PAC) or political party, for a calendar quarter
without an election, to file a campaign finance report by the third Monday in the month after the
calendar quarter, rather than by 15 days after the calendar quarter.
Background
In each quarter before a general election for which a candidate is running for office, a PAC
and political party must file a campaign finance report through the Secretary of State's Office. In
a calendar quarter without an election, a PAC or political party must file the report within 15 days
after the calendar quarter (A.R.S. § 16-927). The campaign finance report must include: 1) the
amount of cash on hand at the beginning of the filing period; 2) the total receipts during a reporting
period including an itemized list of specified categories; 3) an itemized list of specified categories
of all the disbursements in excess of $250 during the reporting period; 4) the total sum of all
receipts and disbursements for the reporting period; and 5) a certification by the committee
treasurer, issued under penalty of perjury, that the contents of the report are true and correct
(A.R.S. § 16-926).
There is no anticipated fiscal impact to the state General Fund associated with this
legislation.

finance report by the third Monday in the month after the calendar quarter, rather than by 15
