Overview 
Specifics rules the Governor must issue pertaining to the Arizona State Guard (ASG).  
History 
The Governor may establish the ASG for the safety and protection of the lives and property of 
Arizona citizens if the Arizona National Guard is called into active federal service, alerted for 
federal service or for any other reason the Governor considers necessary (A.R.S. § 26-174). 
Statute currently states the Governor must issue, or cause to be issued, rules to govern the 
administration and organization of the ASG (A.R.S. § 26-174).  
Provisions 
1. Specifies rules issued by the governor pertaining to the ASG must include establishing a chain 
of command, and a process for individuals to volunteer and report for duty. (Sec. 1)
