Sponsor: Senator Gowan, LD 14
Committee on Military Affairs & Public Safety
Overview
Establishes the Fire Incident Management Fund (Fund) to establish a statewide secure incident
management program. Appropriates $6,100,000 from the state General Fund (GF) to the Fund in
FY 2023.
History
The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management (DFFM) uses the National Fire
Incident Reporting System (NFIRS). The NFRIS is the standard national reporting system used
in the United States by fire departments to report fires and other incidents. The NFRIS provides
data to help plan for future fire department needs, identify resource needs, prioritize training and
qualify for national grants (DFFM).
Among others, the State Treasurer is responsible for authenticating writings and documents,
receiving and keeping monies that belong to the state in secure custody, filing and keeping
documentation delivered when monies are deposited into the treasury, deliver a confirmation to
each person depositing money in the treasury, keep an account of all monies received and
disbursed and keep separate accounts of the different funds and appropriations of monies (A.R.S.
§ 41-172).
