Analysis

The bill would appropriate $500,000 from the General Fund in FY 2024 to fund an Alzheimer's disease and dementia
public education campaign. The funding, administered by DHS, would be distributed to a nonprofit organization with
expertise in memory loss, dementia, and Alzheimer's disease that provides care and support for individuals affected. To
receive the funding, the organization must also host a 24/7 toll-free hotline to provide education on signs of Alzheimer's,
decision-making support, crisis assistance, treatment options, and community referrals. Finally, the recipient of the
funding must show competency in public awareness campaigns.

DHS would be required to submit a report documenting the impact of the campaign to the Governor, Senate President,
and Speaker of the House by November 1, 2024.
