HB 2277 Initials JB/LM Page 1 Transportation & Infrastructure ARIZONA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES Fifty-sixth Legislature First Regular Session HB2277: appropriation; railway safety inspectors Sponsor: Representative Cano, LD 20 Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure Overview Appropriates $197,400 and two full-time equivalent (FTE) positions from the state General Fund (GF) in FY 2024 to the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) to fund two railway safety inspectors. History The ACC is required to prescribe standards of safety and safety devices to protect the health and safety of employees of railroads (A.R.S. § 40-841). Statute requires all persons engaged in the operation of railroads to comply with any regulation or order of the ACC issued for railroad safety and to furnish any information required by the ACC. The ACC or its authorized agent may enter any place of operation engaged in the operation of railroads to determine if prescribed standards are being complied with (A.R.S. § 40-844). Provisions 1. Appropriates $197,400 and two FTE positions from the state GF in FY 2024 to the ACC for the purpose of funding two railway safety inspectors. (Sec.1) 2.
