History An EMCT means an individual who has been certified by the Department of Health Services (DHS) as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), an advanced emergency EMT, an EMT I-99 or a paramedic (A.R.S. § 36-2201). EMCTs in Arizona may receive certification either by completing statewide standardized training and certification under the aegis of DHS, or by holding valid certification with a national certification organization (A.R.S. § 36-2202). Provisions 1. Adds that those who have completed training and testing by the US Armed Forces, at a level comparable to the national standards for EMCTs, are to be certified as qualified EMCTs. (Sec. 1, 2) 2. Exempts DHS from rulemaking requirements for the purposes of this act. (Sec. 3) 3. Contains an effective date clause to conform with an existing statutory enactment date.
