appropriations; named claimants
Purpose
Appropriates monies from various funds to named claimants in FY 2023.
Background
When monetary claims are made against the state, the Director of the Arizona Department
of Administration (ADOA) has limited authority to approve payments to claimants, provided that
claimants meet statutorily defined timelines and that sufficient monies are available to pay the
approved claims. Claims that are more than one fiscal year old and less than four fiscal years old
must be presented by ADOA to the Legislature to request appropriations sufficient for payment of
the claims (A.R.S. ยง 35-191).
S.B. 1134 appropriates $169,995.69 from the state General Fund (state GF) and
appropriates $57,408.72 from other funds to named claimants in FY 2023.
Provisions
1. Appropriates $4,712.75 from the Risk Management Revolving Fund in FY 2023 to ADOA for
payment of claims.
2. Appropriates $1,155.22 from the Acupuncture Board of Examiners Fund in FY 2023 to the
Acupuncture Board of Examiners for payment of claims.
3. Appropriates $169,301.84 from the state GF in FY 2023 to the Arizona Department of
Corrections for payment of claims.
4. Appropriates monies to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) in FY 2023 for
payment of claims from the following funds:
a) $7,848.08 from the State Highway Fund; and
b) $1,463.04 from ADOT's Fleet Operations Fund.
5. Appropriates $693.85 from the state GF in FY 2023 to the State Board of Equalization for
payment of claims.
6. Appropriates $872.03 from the Board of Homeopathic and Integrated Medicine Examiners'
Fund in FY 2023 to the Board of Homeopathic and Integrated Medicine Examiners for
payment of claims.
7. Appropriates $1,100.00 from the Industrial Commission of Arizona's (ICA) Administrative
Fund in FY 2023 to the ICA for payment of claims. FACT SHEET

8. Appropriates $23,086.95 from the Arizona Medical Board Fund in FY 2023 to the Arizona
Medical Board for payment of claims.
9. Appropriates $1,407.66 from the Naturopathic Physicians Medical Board Fund in FY 2023 to
the Naturopathic Physicians Medical Board for payment of claims.
10. Appropriates $2,753.02 from the Nursing Care Institution Administrators' Licensing and
Assisted Living Facility Managers' Certification Fund in FY 2023 to the Board of Examiners
of Nursing Care Institution Administrators and Assisted Living Facility Managers for payment
of claims.
11. Appropriates $1,804.03 from the Board of Optometry Fund in FY 2023 to the Arizona Board
of Optometry for payment of claims.
12. Appropriates $1,114.33 from the Personnel Division Fund in FY 2023 to the State Personnel
Board for payment of claims.
13. Appropriates $3,431.81 from the State Board for Private Postsecondary Education Fund in FY
2023 to the State Board for Private Postsecondary Education for payment of claims.
14. Appropriates $2,367.04 from the Board of Psychologist Examiners Fund in FY 2023 to the
Arizona Board of Psychologist Examiners for payment of claims.
15. Appropriates $4,292.76 from the Veterinary Medical Examining Board Fund in FY 2023 to
the Arizona Veterinary Medical Examiners Board for payment of claims.
16. Requires ADOA to coordinate the payment of named claimants.
17. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
