(TEXT OF BILL BEGINS ON NEXT PAGE) Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona: Section 1. Section 11-269.28, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended to read: START_STATUTE11-269.28. Food handler certificate; volunteers; exemption; definition A. A county may not require a person who volunteers fewer than three times in a calendar year at a school an activity or function where food is being handled or served outside of the school's regular food service to students packaged or heated to obtain a food handler certificate or identification card or participate in a food handler certificate training course pursuant to section 11-269.12 if the person is overseen by a certified food protection manager or person in charge as defined in Arizona administrative code R9-8-101(c)(3)(g). B. For the purposes of this section, "person in charge" means the individual present at a food establishment who is responsible for the management of the operation of the food establishment at the time of inspection.
