An Act

 

appropriating monies to the department of education.

 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona: Section 1. Appropriations; department of education; school safety threat assessments; exemption A. The sum of $7,000,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2024-2025 and the sum of $5,000,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2025-2026 to the department of education to establish a statewide connected behavioral threat assessment and management platform to identify, assess, manage and monitor present and potential threats to schools and individuals in the schools. The platform must: 1. Be centralized, web-based and hosted in a restricted and secure cloud environment. 2. Incorporate integrated behavioral assessment best practices at least as stringent as the University of Virginia comprehensive school threat assessment guidelines developed in 2018.  B. The appropriations made in subsection A of this section are exempt from the provisions of section 35-190, Arizona Revised Statutes, relating to lapsing of appropriations.
