Overview 
Appropriates an unspecified amount of monies to the Arizona Department of Public Safety 
(DPS) for stand-by pay to peace officers. 
History 
DPS is responsible for coordinating services that are used by local law enforcement agencies 
and creating services for the: 1) prevention and apprehension of crime; 2) training of law 
enforcement; 3) promotion of public safety; and 4) operation of the Statewide Emergency 
Medical Service (A.R.S. § 41-1711).  
Peace officers are sheriffs of counties, constables, marshals and policemen of cities and towns, 
commissioned DPS personnel and personnel who are employed by the State Department of 
Corrections and the Department of Juvenile Corrections (A.R.S. § 1-215). 
Standby pay is pay provided to employees who are required to be available for immediate 
callout and response to their work duties (DPS FY 2024 Budget Request). 
Provisions 
1. Appropriates an unspecified amount of monies in FY 2025 from the state General Fund
