appropriations; Arizona Holocaust education center
Purpose
Appropriates $_____ from the state General Fund (state GF) in FY 2025 to the Arizona
Department of Education (ADE) to distribute to the Arizona Holocaust Education Center (Center)
for the creation and operation of the Center.
Background
The State Board of Education must prescribe a minimum course of study and competency
requirements for common schools and high schools that incorporate academic standards in reading,
writing, mathematics, science and social studies. In adopting the course of study and competency
requirements, the State Board of Education must include a requirement that students be taught
about the Holocaust and other genocides at least twice between grades 7 and 12 (A.R.S. §§ 15-701
– 15-701.02).
H.B. 2757 appropriates $_____ from the state GF in FY 2025 to ADE.
Provisions
1. Appropriates $_____ from the state GF in FY 2025 to ADE to distribute to the Center for the
creation and operation of the Center as a resource for fulfilling the statutory requirement that
students be taught about the Holocaust and other genocides at least twice between grades 7 and
12.
2. Exempts the appropriation from lapsing.
3. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
