An Act

 

amending title 38, chapter 3, article 4, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 38-451; amending title 41, chapter 1, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 41-116; relating to displaying flags.

 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona: Section 1. Title 38, chapter 3, article 4, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 38-451, to read: START_STATUTE38-451. Display of flags; notification; state agencies; state buildings; service members A. all state agencies, on NOTIFICATION from the governor OF THE DEATH OF A SERVICE MEMBER WHO CLAIMED THIS STATE AS THE SERVICE MEMBER'S HOME OF RECORD, SHALL FLY all FLAGS displayed on or in front of ALL STATE BUILDINGs AT HALF-STAFF.  B. Notwithstanding any other law, When flags are displayed on multiple staffs the Arizona state flag shall always be displayed to the honor of the United States flag. END_STATUTE Sec. 2. Title 41, chapter 1, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 41-116, to read: START_STATUTE41-116. Governor; notification; display of flags; state agencies; state buildings; service members The governor, within FORTY-eight hours after RECEIVING notification of the death of a service member who claimed this state as the service member's home of record, shall notify all state agencies to fly all flags displayed on or in front of all state buildings at half-staff pursuant to section 38-451. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1. Title 38, chapter 3, article 4, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 38-451, to read:

START_STATUTE38-451. Display of flags; notification; state agencies; state buildings; service members

A. all state agencies, on NOTIFICATION from the governor OF THE DEATH OF A SERVICE MEMBER WHO CLAIMED THIS STATE AS THE SERVICE MEMBER'S HOME OF RECORD, SHALL FLY all FLAGS displayed on or in front of ALL STATE BUILDINGs AT HALF-STAFF. 

B. Notwithstanding any other law, When flags are displayed on multiple staffs the Arizona state flag shall always be displayed to the honor of the United States flag. END_STATUTE

Sec. 2. Title 41, chapter 1, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 41-116, to read:

START_STATUTE41-116. Governor; notification; display of flags; state agencies; state buildings; service members

The governor, within FORTY-eight hours after RECEIVING notification of the death of a service member who claimed this state as the service member's home of record, shall notify all state agencies to fly all flags displayed on or in front of all state buildings at half-staff pursuant to section 38-451.
