Summary of the Strike-Everything Amendment to SB 1237
Overview
Requires a filing officer to notify the Secretary of State when a candidate in their jurisdiction
has an unsatisfied amount of $1,000 or more in fines resulting from a failure to comply with
Arizona law on campaign contributions and expenses and requires that information to be
publicly available on the Secretary of State's website.
History
A filing officer may not accept the nomination paper of a candidate for state or local office if
the person is liable for a total of $1,000 or more in fines, penalties or late fees that have not
been fully satisfied at the time of the attempted filing and the liability arose from a failure
to comply with Arizona law on campaign contributions and expenses. In cases where the
liability of these penalties is being appealed, the filing officer may accept a candidate's
nomination paper (A.R.S. § 16-311).
Provisions
