Assigned to ED & APPROP FOR COMMITTEE ARIZONA STATE SENATE Fifty-Sixth Legislature, Second Regular Session FACT SHEET FOR S.B. 1503 remedial education; tribal colleges; appropriations Purpose Declares it is the Legislature's intent that the appropriations made in the FY 2024 General Appropriation Act for Dine College, Tohono O'odham Community College and San Carlos Apache College for remedial education be considered ongoing funding. Background In the FY 2024 General Appropriation Act, the state appropriated a total of $5,000,000 from the state General Fund in tribal aid for remedial education. Dine College received $1,000,000, Tohono O'odham Community College received $2,000,000 and San Carlos Apache College received $2,000,000 (Laws 2023, Ch. 133). SB 1503 declares the FY 2024 appropriations to Dine College, Tohono O'odham Community College and San Carlos Apache College for remedial education to be considered ongoing which would be a total of $5,000,000 from the state General Fund ongoing. Provisions 1. Declares it is the Legislature's intent that the appropriations made in the FY 2024 General Appropriation Act for Dine College, Tohono O'odham Community College and San Carlos Apache College for remedial education be considered ongoing funding in future years. 2.
