nursing-supported group homes; preceptors 
Purpose 
Includes nursing-supported group homes in the Student Nurse Clinical Rotation and 
Licensed or Certified Nurse Training Program (Program). 
Background 
 Laws 2022, Chapter 330 established the Program under the Arizona Health Care Cost 
Containment System (AHCCCS) to distribute grant monies to licensed health care institutions for 
purposes of expanding or creating clinical training placements for undergraduate nursing students 
and licensed or certified nurses to transition to practice and increase specialty nursing skills. 
Eligible preceptor training programs may include programs for nursing assistants, licensed 
practical nurses, registered nurses and advanced practice nurses, including nursing assistant 
programs offered by assisted living centers, assisted living facilities and nursing care institutions 
that are approved by the Arizona State Board of Nursing (A.R.S. § 36-1803). 
 A nursing supported group home is a health care institution that is a community residential 
setting for up to six persons with developmental disabilities, that is operated by a service provider 
under contract with the Department of Economic Security and that provides room and board, daily 
habilitation and continuous nursing support and intervention (A.R.S. § 36-401). 
There is no anticipated fiscal impact to the state General Fund associated with this 
legislation. 
Provisions 
1. Adds nursing-supported group homes to the list of eligible preceptor training programs that 
may receive grant monies from the Program.  
2. Makes technical and conforming changes. 
3. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
