Overview
Permits members of the public body to discuss matters raised during an open call to the
public.
History
Current law prescribes that a public body may make an open call to the public during a public
meeting to allow individuals to address the public body on any issue within the jurisdiction
of the public. The open call must be held within a reasonable time, place and manner. At the
conclusion of an open call to the public, individual members of the public body can respond
to criticism made by those who have addressed the public body, ask staff to review a matter
or ask that a matter be put on a future agenda. Members of the public body are prohibited
from discussing or taking legal action on matters raised during an open call to the public
unless the matters are properly noticed for discussion and legal action (A.R.S. § 38-431.01).
Provisions
1. Authorizes members of the public body to discuss matters raised by those who address
the public body during an open call to the public. (Sec. 1)
2. Makes technical and conforming changes. (Sec. 1)
