History A.R.S. § 13-136.01 governs the requirements to become a registered sanitarian in the state of Arizona. A person is eligible for registration as a sanitarian if the person: 1) has completed five years of employment as a sanitarian aide, in either a recognized public health agency or private industry, in a position directly related to environmental health; 2) has completed at least five years of full-time military duty in the field of environmental health; or 3) has successfully completed 30 semester hours of credit at an accredited college or university in the natural sciences. Provisions 1. Lowers the minimum years of employment required, as either as sanitarian aide or in military duty, for an applicant to become a sanitarian, from five years to three years. (Sec. 1) 2. Revises the education needed for employment as a sanitarian, from 30 semester hours of credit in the natural sciences, to 30 hours in subjects relevant to the role of a sanitarian, as approved by the Sanitarians Council.
