(TEXT OF BILL BEGINS ON NEXT PAGE) Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona: Section 1. Title 16, chapter 1, article 1.1, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 16-112.01, to read: START_STATUTE16-112.01. Voter registration information; department of transportation A. Notwithstanding any other law and for the purposes of ensuring compliance with the national voter registration act of 1993 (P.L. 103-31; 107 Stat. 77; 52 United States Code sections 20501 through 20511), when the department of TRANSPORTATION receives voter registration information from a registrant pursuant to section 16-112, the Department of Transportation shall simultaneously transmit that information directly to both the secretary of state and the county recorder of the county in which the registrant resides and shall not transmit that information through the secretary of state. B. The Department of Transportation shall ensure that all voter registration information that is collected at driver license offices, including the registrant's name, address, date of birth and digitized signature, is sent to the appropriate county recorder within five business days after receipt of a completed registration application, request for renewal or revision to the registration information. C. except for voter registration purposes, This section does not preclude the Department of Transportation from providing voter registration information to the Secretary of State for purposes other than those prescribed in subsection a of this section. D. This section does not diminish or alter the duties of the Secretary of State under state or federal law regarding voter registration and election administration. END_STATUTE Sec. 2. Effective date Section 16-112.01, Arizona Revised Statutes, as added by this act, is effective from and after December 31, 2025. Sec. 3. Severability If a provision of this act or its application to any person or circumstance is held invalid, the invalidity does not affect other provisions or applications of the act that can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end the provisions of this act are severable.
