Overview 
Establishes the Arizona Office of Defense Innovation (Office) to drive innovation for defense 
technologies and leverage assets that attract federal and private defense industry in the 
state.  
History 
The Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA) is the state agency responsible for economic 
development including growing and strengthening Arizona's economy. The ACA is overseen 
by a board of directors who have public and private backgrounds in Arizona's economy and 
policies (AZCA). 
Provisions 
1. Establishes the Arizona Office of Defense Innovation. (Sec.1) 
2. Requires the Governor appoint a director of the Office. (Sec.1) 
3. Establishes the Defense Innovation Advisory Board and requires it consist of the 
following members: 
a) the Governor or their designee as chairperson; 
b) the director of the office or the governors designee; 
c) five members appointed by the governor; 
d) five members appointed by the President of the Senate; and 
e) five members appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives; 
4. Requires the members who are appointed to the board serve staggered three-year terms, 
be from geographically diverse areas in the state, be United States citizens and pass a 
background check. (Sec.1) 
5. Outlines the duties of the Office of Defense Innovation. (Sec.1) 
6. Requires the Office board submit a report to the Governor, President of the Senate and 
Speaker of the House in regard to the Office's achievements, activities and any 
recommendations for improving the Office. (Sec 1)  
7. Allows the Office to accepts gifts, grants, devises and donations from any public or private 
source to assist with duties of the office. (Sec.1)
