HB 2944: inpatient treatment days; computation; exclusion

Overview 
Specifies that in computing the number of inpatient treatment days available to a patient, 
any time the patient spent in a jail or prison must be excluded.  
History 
The maximum period of inpatient treatment that the court may order, subject to limitations, 
are as follows: 1) ninety days for a person found to be a danger to self; 2) one hundred eighty 
days for a person found to be a danger to others; 3) one hundred eighty days for a person 
found to have a persistent or acute disability; and 4) three hundred sixty-five days for a 
person found to have a grave disability (A.R.S. § 36-540). 
Provisions 
1. Excludes any time a patient spent in a jail or prison when computing the number of 
inpatient treatments days available to a patient. (Sec. 2)
