Overview
States the Legislature's interest in having the Arizona Department of Water Resources
(ADWR) and the Arizona State Land Department (ASLD) focus on increasing groundwater
recharge through groundwater recharge infrastructure projects.
History
Laws 2022, Chapter 33 directed the State Land Commissioner and Director of ADWR to
identify at least six acceptable facilities for creating additional water storage facilities on
State Trust Lands and to submit a report on their activities, findings and recommendations
by December 31. 2021.
The published report in 2021 states that ADWR identified 331 potential underground water
storage sites and provides a list of these locations as well as a detailed map of their locations
across the state.
