Overview 
Urges the Arizona State Mine Inspector and the Department of Environmental Quality 
(ADEQ) to apply for the pilot program under the Good Samaritan Remediation of Abandoned 
Hardrock Mines Act.  
History 
The Good Samaritan Remediation of Abandoned Hardrock Mines Act of 2024 was signed into 
law on December 17, 2024 and seeks to address public safety and environmental threats 
associated with abandoned hardrock mines in the United States.  The Act establishes a pilot 
program under the Environmental Protection Agency to allow not-for-profit cleanup efforts 
at abandoned mine sites. (S.2781) 
Provisions 
1. Urges the Arizona State Mine Inspector and ADEQ to work with federal agencies and 
members of the private sector to find qualified mining sites and apply for the pilot 
program. (Sec 1) 
2. Requests the Arizona Secretary of State to provide copies of this memorial to the State 
Mine Inspector and the Director of ADEQ and each member of Congress from the state of 
Arizona. (Sec 1)
