Overview 
States that the members of the Legislature oppose any rule, regulation, policy or condition 
that requires an applicant for an assured water supply (AWS) certificate to prove more than 
a one-hundred-year supply of assured water.  
History 
The 1980 Groundwater Management Act allows the Arizona Department of Water Resources 
(ADWR) to exercise jurisdiction over surface water and to represent the State on Colorado 
River issues. Assured water supply is defined as the availability of a 100-year water supply 
considering the current and committed demand, as well as growth projects (ADWR).  
Provisions 
1. States the Legislature's opposition to the rule of assured water supply proposed by ADWR 
on August 23,2024. (Sec. 1)
