SB 1264: regional medical center; appropriation

Overview 
Appropriates $7,000,000 from the state General Fund (GF) in fiscal year (FY) 2026 to the 
University of Arizona (UA) to construct a regional medical center in the City of Yuma.  
History 
Currently, UA has two accredited medical schools, the Colleges of Medicine in Phoenix and 
Tucson and two university hospitals, Banner University Medical Center South, and 
University Medical Center Tucson. The university runs two additional out-patient primary 
clinical teaching facilities both located in Tucson. The UA operates 15 centers and institutes 
across the state which serve various roles in advancing health care education, training, 
research and patient care (UA and UA). 
Provisions 
1. Appropriates $7,000,000 from the state GF in FY 2026 to the UA to construct a regional 
medical center in the City of Yuma. (Sec. 1) 
2. Deems the Legislature's intent is that the appropriation be considered as ongoing funding 
for the maintenance and operation of the regional medical center in future years. (Sec. 1)
