History The powers of a county are exercised exclusively by the county Board, or agents authorized by the Board. Statute describes the powers of the Board, which includes purchasing and holding lands, making contracts, levying and collecting taxes and determining the budgets of county officers. Statute dictates procedures the Board must follow when performing their required duties. These procedures include the requirement of the Board's approval for all plats of a subdivision of land, with exceptions. The Board has the jurisdiction to control and oversee the water supply and resources of the county in order to protect the public's safety and health (A.R.S. §§ 11-201, 11-269.27, 11-822, 11-823). Provisions 1. Adds assurances to the list of items the Board may appoint personnel to review and approve without a public hearing of the Board. (Sec. 1) 2. Allows a county employee authorized by an adopted county ordinance to carry out, in lieu of the Board, specified duties relating to the subdivision of land, approval of different plats and parcels of land and approval of subdivided lands with water restrictions.
