training simulators; DPS; payment 
Purpose 
Requires the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to pay submitted public safety training 
simulator invoices from any monies available to DPS. 
Background 
DPS is responsible for creating and coordinating services for use by local law enforcement 
agencies in protecting the public safety and for formulating plans with a view to establish modern 
services for prevention of crime, apprehension of violators, training of law enforcement personnel 
and the promotion of public safety. DPS consists of four Divisions: 1) Arizona Highway Patrol; 
2) Narcotics Enforcement and Criminal Investigation; 3) Scientific Criminal Analysis; and  
4) Training and Education (A.R.S. ยงยง 41-1711 and 41-1712). 
There is no anticipated fiscal impact to the state General Fund associated with this 
legislation. 
Provisions 
1. Requires DPS to pay the public safety training simulator invoices submitted by the Arizona 
State University Police Department and the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office from any 
monies available to DPS. 
2. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
