 BILL NUMBER: SB 1473INTRODUCED BILL TEXT INTRODUCED BY Senator Wyland FEBRUARY 19, 2010 An act to amend Section 60042 of the Education Code, relating to instructional material. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST SB 1473, as introduced, Wyland. Instructional material: promotion of values. Existing law provides that when adopting instructional materials for use in the schools, governing boards shall require such materials as they deem necessary and proper to encourage thrift, fire prevention, and the humane treatment of animals and people. This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes in that provision. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 60042 of the Education Code is amended to read: 60042. When adopting instructional materials for use in the schools, governing boards shall require  such  materials  as   that  they deem necessary and proper to encourage thrift, fire prevention  ,  and the humane treatment of animals and people.
