LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST SB 297, as introduced, Wyland. Science and mathematics instruction. Existing law establishes the system of public education in this state. Under this system, school districts throughout the state maintain and operate public elementary and secondary schools, which offer instruction to pupils in kindergarten and in grades 1 to 12, inclusive. This bill would express the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation relating to science and mathematics instruction in public elementary and secondary schools. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. It is the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation relating to science and mathematics instruction in public elementary and secondary schools.
