BILL NUMBER: AB 2195INTRODUCED BILL TEXT INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member John A. Prez FEBRUARY 23, 2012 An act relating to employment. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 2195, as introduced, John A. Prez. California Jobs Act of 2012. Existing law regulates wages, hours, safety, and other aspects of public and private employment. This bill would express the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation to reduce the number of unemployed persons in the state. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. It is the intent of the Legislature to enact a measure to be known as the "California Jobs Act of 2012" to address the following: (a) California has a significant role in both the national and international economy. (b) The Legislature has serious concerns about the high unemployment rate in California and how it adversely impacts individuals and their families. (c) The Legislature recognizes that the United States is in a national economic crisis and that there needs to be an exploration of opportunities for the people of California to return to work. SEC. 2. It is the intent of the Legislature to request that the Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development report to the Legislature on the Labor and Workforce Development Agency's efforts to increase the number of employed California residents, including coordinating with the United States Department of Labor to maximize funding for workforce training and development.
