LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 2593, as introduced, Furutani. County superintendents of schools: reports: forfeiture of salary. Existing law requires a county superintendent of schools to make reports, when directed by the Superintendent of Public Instruction, showing matters relating to the public schools in his or her county. Existing law provides that if the county superintendent of schools fails to make a full and correct report, he is required to forfeit $100 of his salary, as specified. This bill would change that amount of forfeiture to $150. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 1243 of the Education Code is amended to read: 1243. (a) The county superintendent of schools shall make reports, when directed by the Superintendent of Public Instruction, showingsuchthose matters relating to the public schools in his or her county as may be required of him or her .If he(b) If the county superintendent of schools fails to make a full and correct report as required underthe provisions ofthis section at the time fixed by the Superintendent of Public Instruction, he or she shall forfeit one hundred fifty dollars($100)($150) of his or her salary; and the county auditor whose duty it is to draw the warrant for the salary of the county superintendent of schools shall deduct this amount from the warrant on receiving notice from the Superintendent of Public Instruction to the effect that the county superintendent of schools has failed to make the report as directed.
