LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 625, as introduced, Ammiano. Sex offender registration. Existing law, the "Sex Offender Registration Act," requires a person convicted of certain crimes, as specified, for the rest of his or her life while residing in California, or while attending school or working in California, as specified, to register with law enforcement as a sex offender. This bill would express the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation to establish a tiered sex offender registration law. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. It is the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation to establish a tiered sex offender registration law.
