 BILL NUMBER: AB 869INTRODUCED BILL TEXT INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Davis FEBRUARY 17, 2011 An act relating to redistricting. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 869, as introduced, Davis. Redistricting. Existing law, as added by constitutional initiative, establishes the Citizens Redistricting Commission, and charges it with various duties and responsibilities in connection with redistricting Assembly, Senate, Board of Equalization, and congressional districts, as specified. Existing law establishes the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, and charges it with various duties and responsibilities in connection with the incarceration and rehabilitation of prisoners, as specified. This bill would express the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation requiring the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to provide the Citizens Redistricting Commission with preincarceration addresses for incarcerated persons under the jurisdiction of the department, in sufficient time for the addresses to be used by the preincarceration commission for purposes of redistricting. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. It is the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation requiring the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to provide the Citizens Redistricting Commission with preincarceration addresses for incarcerated persons under the jurisdiction of the department, in sufficient time for the addresses to be used by the preincarceration commission for purposes of redistricting.
