LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST SB 1135, as introduced, Runner. School districts: governing boards. Existing law authorizes the governing board of a school district to initiate and carry on any program, activity, or to act in a manner that is not in conflict with or inconsistent with, or preempted by, any law and that is not in conflict with the purposes for which a school district is established. This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to that provision. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 35160 of the Education Code is amended to read: 35160.
