Under existing law, the Sherman Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Law, the State Department of Public Health is required to license bottled water plants and water vendors and to enforce various quality, reporting, and labeling standards for bottled and vended water. Violation of these provisions is a crime. This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation that would revise the standards for bottled water labeling to provide the appropriate amount of information to ensure that consumers have access to essential water quality information.
