Commercially sexually exploited minors. Existing law authorizes the County of Alameda and the County of Los Angeles to establish a pilot project, contingent upon local funding, for the purpose of developing a comprehensive, replicative, multidisciplinary model to address the needs and effective treatment of commercially sexually exploited minors, as specified. This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation to reduce the number of commercially sexually exploited minors, to protect minors from being sold on the streets, and to ensure that those minors have safe and nurturing families providing them with opportunities to thrive. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. It is the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation to reduce the number of commercially sexually exploited minors, to protect minors from being sold on the streets, and to ensure that those minors have safe and nurturing families providing them with opportunities to thrive.
