 BILL NUMBER: AB 295INTRODUCED BILL TEXT INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Salas FEBRUARY 11, 2013 An act to amend Section 10702 of the Water Code, relating to groundwater. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 295, as introduced, Salas. Water: groundwater. Existing law declares that groundwater is a valuable natural resource in the state and should be managed to ensure its safe production and its quality. Existing law also authorizes certain local agencies to adopt and implement groundwater management plans. This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to the latter provision. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 10702 of the Water Code is amended to read: 10702.  Any   A  local agency  which is  authorized by law to provide water services may, by ordinance, or by resolution if the local agency is not authorized to act by ordinance, establish programs for the management of groundwater resources.
