 BILL NUMBER: AB 467INTRODUCED BILL TEXT INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Stone FEBRUARY 19, 2013 An act to amend Section 8602 of the Family Code, relating to adoption. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 467, as introduced, Stone. Family law: adoption. Existing law provides procedures for the adoption of an unmarried minor. Under existing law, the consent of a child is necessary to the child's adoption, if the child is over 12 years of age. This bill would make a nonsubstantive change to that provision. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 8602 of the Family Code is amended to read: 8602. The consent of a child, if over  the age of  12 years  of age  , is necessary to the child's adoption.
