 BILL NUMBER: SB 572INTRODUCED BILL TEXT INTRODUCED BY Senator Price FEBRUARY 22, 2013 An act to amend Section 3503 of the Government Code, relating to public employment. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST SB 572, as introduced, Price. Employee organizations: representation. Existing law authorizes recognized employee organizations to represent their members in their employment relations with public agencies. Existing law also authorizes an employee to appear on his or her own behalf regarding employment relations with the employing public agency. This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to these provisions. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 3503 of the Government Code is amended to read: 3503. Recognized employee organizations shall have the right to represent their members in their employment relations with public agencies. Employee organizations may establish reasonable restrictions regarding who may join and may make reasonable provisions for the dismissal of individuals from membership. Nothing in this section shall prohibit any employee from appearing in his  or her  own behalf in his  or her  employment relations with the public agency.
