Criminal records: expungement. Existing law authorizes the expungement of arrest records and records of convictions under specified circumstances if certain criteria are met. This bill would express the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation authorizing human trafficking victims who suffered arrest or conviction for prostitution as a minor to have those records expunged upon reaching the age of majority, as appropriate. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. It is the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation authorizing human trafficking victims who suffered arrest or conviction for prostitution as a minor to have those records expunged upon reaching the age of majority, as appropriate.
