 BILL NUMBER: AB 616INTRODUCED BILL TEXT INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Campos FEBRUARY 24, 2015 An act relating to student financial aid. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 616, as introduced, Campos. Student financial aid: California State Work-Study Program. Existing law establishes the California State Work-Study Program, under the administration of the Student Aid Commission, to provide eligible college and university students with an opportunity to earn money to help defray their educational costs while gaining valuable experience in educationally beneficial or career-related employment. This bill would express the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation that would allocate funding for purposes of reactivating the program. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. It is the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation that would allocate funding for purposes of reactivating the California State Work-Study Program established in Section 69951 of the Education Code.
