Existing law requires the Attorney General to pay certain claims, settlements, and judgments against the state. This bill would state that it appropriates an unspecified amount appropriate $235,400 from the General Fund to the Attorney General to pay an undesignated judgment. the settlement in a specified case. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The sum of ____ ($____) is hereby appropriated from the General Fund to the Attorney General to pay for the judgment in the case of ____. Any funds appropriated in excess of the amounts actually required for the payment of this judgment shall revert to the General Fund on June 30 of the fiscal year in which the final payment is made. SECTION 1. The sum of two hundred thirty-five thousand four hundred dollars ($235,400) is hereby appropriated to the Department of Justice to pay the settlement in Ballona Wetlands Land Trust v. Santa Monica Bay Restoration Commission (Los Angeles Superior Court, Case No. BS154128). Any funds appropriated in excess of the amounts required for the payment of this claim shall revert to the General Fund. SEC. 2. This act is an urgency statute necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety within the meaning of Article IV of the Constitution and shall go into immediate effect.
