LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST SB 1315, as introduced, Bates. Counties: budgets. Existing law requires the board of supervisors of a county to approve a recommended budget, including revisions, on or before June 30 of each year, as specified. This bill would provide that in any year in which the board of supervisors of a county adopts a budget on or before June 30, the board is not required to approve a recommended budget. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 29064 of the Government Code is amended to read: 29064. (a)OnExcept as provided in subdivision (c), on or before June 30 of each year the board, by formal action, shall approve the recommended budget, including the revisions it deems necessary for the purpose of having authority to spend until the budget is adopted. (b) (1) Except as provided in paragraph (2), the board may make revisions to the recommended budget until the budget is adopted pursuant to Article 4 (commencing with Section 29080). (2) A revision to the recommended budget after the start of the public hearing held pursuant to Article 4 (commencing with Section 29080) shall be made only if the revision is proposed in writing and filed with the clerk of the board prior to the close of the public hearing, or approved by a four-fifths vote of the board after the close of the hearing. (c) In any year in which the board adopts the budget pursuant to Article 4 (commencing with Section 29080) on or before June 30, the board shall not be required to approve a recommended budget pursuant to subdivision (a).
