 BILL NUMBER: SB 311INTRODUCED BILL TEXT INTRODUCED BY Senator Beall (Coauthor: Senator Wieckowski) FEBRUARY 23, 2015 An act to amend Section 8205 of the Education Code, relating to education programs. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST SB 311, as introduced, Beall. Child Care and Development Services Act. Existing law provides that it is the intent of the Legislature that in providing child development programs the Superintendent of Public Instruction give priority to children of families that qualify under applicable federal statutes or regulations as recipients of public assistance and other low-income and disadvantaged families. This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to this law. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 8205 of the Education Code is amended to read: 8205. It is the intent of the Legislature that in providing child development programs the Superintendent  of Public Instruction  give priority to children of families that qualify under applicable federal statutes or regulations as recipients of public assistance and other low-income and disadvantaged families. Federal reimbursement shall be claimed for any child receiving services  under   pursuant to  this chapter for whom federal funds are available.
