                    CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE 20172018 REGULAR SESSION Assembly Bill No. 1418Introduced by Assembly Member O'DonnellFebruary 17, 2017 An act relating to transportation. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGESTAB 1418, as introduced, O'Donnell. Freight transportation systems.The Highway Safety, Traffic Reduction, Air Quality, and Port Security Bond Act of 2006 (Proposition 1B) created the Trade Corridors Improvement Fund and provided for allocation by the California Transportation Commission of $2 billion in bond funds for infrastructure improvements on highway and rail corridors that have a high volume of freight movement and for specified categories of projects eligible to receive these funds. Existing law continues the Trade Corridors Improvement Fund in existence in order to receive revenues from sources other than the bond act for these purposes. Existing law requires the California Transportation Commission, in determining trade corridor improvements eligible for funding with these revenues, to consult various plans, including the State Air Resources Boards Sustainable Freight Strategy.This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation ensuring and promoting the competitiveness of Californias statewide and local freight transportation systems, including job growth, in a manner consistent with the goals of the Sustainable Freight Strategy.Digest Key Vote: MAJORITY  Appropriation: NO  Fiscal Committee: NO  Local Program: NO Bill TextThe people of the State of California do enact as follows:SECTION 1.
