Existing law provides that if a petition for a change of name alleges a specified reason or circumstance and the petitioner is an active participant in an address confidentiality program, as specified, the action for a change of name is exempt from this publication requirement. This bill would exempt from court fees proceedings for name changes filed on behalf of minors who meet the requirements for the exemption from publication described above.
