The state department shall also take into account existing regulations of the state department as well as standards, guidelines, and regulations pursuant to the California Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1973 (Part 1 (commencing with Section 6300), Division 5, Labor Code) regarding infection control to prevent infection or disease as a result of the transmission of blood-borne pathogens. In so doing, the state department shall consult with the Medical Board of California, the Dental Board of Dental Examiners, California, and the Board of Registered Nursing as well as associations representing health care professions, associations of licensed health facilities, organizations which that advocate on behalf of those infected with HIV HIV, and organizations representing consumers of health care. The department shall complete its review of the need for guidelines and regulations by January 1, 1993.
