Mental health: hospital advisory boards.Existing law requires each state hospital under the jurisdiction of the State Department of State Hospitals to have a hospital advisory board of 8 members appointed by the Governor from a list of nominations submitted by the boards of supervisors of counties within each hospitals designated service area. Existing law deems a person ineligible for appointment to a hospital advisory board if that person is a Member of the Legislature or an elective state officer. Existing law provides that if a hospital advisory board appointee is elected after appointment, the appointees board membership shall be vacated and a new appointment made.
