Existing law, the Medical Practice Act, provides for the licensure and regulation of the practice of medicine by physicians and surgeons. Existing law establishes the Medical Board of California within the Department of Consumer Affairs to enforce the licensing and regulatory provisions in the act.This bill would limit the amount that a physician and surgeon licensee may charge a patient for filling out medical forms, including applications for state disability insurance, as specified. The bill would authorize the Medical Board of California to annually increase the fee amount permitted up to $1 per year. by an amount equal to the increase in the California Consumer Price Index.
