The California Constitution additionally authorizes the Attorney General, who is head of the Department of Justice, to appoint or employ 6 deputies or 6 employees who are exempt from state civil service.This bill would instead require the Governor, with the recommendation of the Attorney General, to appoint 2 directors and 2 associate directors of the Attorney Generals office who would be exempt from state civil service.
